NEMCSA’s Senior Companion Program provides volunteer opportunities for limited-income seniors to establish peer to peer relationships that support the frail and elderly who are homebound, isolated and in need of companionship. Senior Companion volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, transportation reimbursement, supplemental insurance, monthly in-service educational trainings, annual physical examination, a meal on the days of service and annual recognition.

| Eligibility: |
|
Individuals must be 60 years of age or older, meet limited income requirements, reside in the service area, and be willing to serve an average of 20 hours per week.

No cost to program participants. Stations generally provide in-kind support.
|

|
Senior Companions are assigned to frail, homebound and/or isolated peers in need of companionship and support. Volunteer services. may include Friendly Visiting, Preparing and Sharing a Meal, Arranging Transportation to Medical Appointments, Providing Reassurance and Emotional Support and Respite for Family Caregivers.
